Crazy ass short slots! Eddie in his Prime, Oops always went on! A man who never stopped evolving!!
A nutty kind of a guy
24:38 what song is that?
Nobody reads my descriptions.
I've said it before and I'll say it again Mr. Giller. There's a special place in heaven for you Sir. You're doing God's work. Letterman and EVH. 2 of the all time legends. Did I mention it's perfectly edited?
Does anyone know what song the keyboard starts playing at 1:25? I’ve been trying to figure it out for months but I can’t
I honestly can’t thank you enough
“Pretty Woman” - Roy Orbison.
OMG Thank you Don Giller for posting this.Gonna miss Eddie. He was one of the best guitarist ever .No Doubt.Sigh
The 80's were the best times ever... So glad I was there..
Still trying to figure out the first 10 seconds.
Music played and sung to perfection.
THE best version of Panama I ever saw. Eddie was a class act through and through- waiving credit to the band after his epic performance. I also never saw Paul smile and dance as much as he did. Cleary playing with Eddie brought out the best of all musicians- and he put on a great show. R.I.P.
What a sparkle Eddie had. Totally channeling music with every fiber of his being. His smiling eyes and vibrant playing were such a happy sight to see and hear. My guitar hero ❤️🙏✝️🌹
30:25 this is why Dave rejoined the band the next year.
Your birthplace,Netherlands is going to miss you extremely!xoxo
Its kind of funny to see Dave smoking after each commercial. I remember restaurants had tiny little non smoking sections in the 80s. Glad we got rid of that crap. I can just smell it. I smoked for a long time and now it turns my stomach.
Thank You Eddie !
Such a huge loss. I was in early high school when 1984 came out. I wore out that tape. The 80s were the best in music.
I saw that tour 10 th row at the Los Angeles Forum when they kicked off the tour ,dam seems like it was just yesterday , i had just graduated !
LOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVE IT.Eddie is Amazing to watch.
Never thought I could miss a person so much
so there's a woman that lives in my building dated both Van Halen Brothers the stories are absolutely amazing rip Edward
If anybody knows how to get a hold of Alex Van Halen his friend Mindy have been trying to get ahold of him just saying peace and love
I love modern metal and rock music but there really wont ever be another guy like this and that sucks.
Maybe it's just me but I think it's kind of odd that VB tells Dave she is nervous becuz her husband is there - almost as if they'd never been on TV together before and they had been several times before this show. They did that interview at the Hard Rock Cafe 3 months before where he donated a guitar and Valerie was totally different in that interview. Wonder what happened during that time period that made her feel so nervous. Maybe Ed really was having an affair with Patty Smyth like she believed he was.
I think it probably had more to do with Letterman. Some stars wouldn't go on the show because they found Dave a little intimidating. And he could be a little unforgiving if the segment wasn't going well. When they were going to commercial and he asked her if she wanted to take the questions backstage you could see on her face she felt she was blowing it. And then at the end of the interview her expression was that she had blown it. I've seen it happen with a number of Letterman guests, they're nervous so they over do it. I think that's all it was here. Maybe Eddie being there added extra pressure.
Special Guest Sammy Hagar
Van Halen and Paul Shaffer and The Most Dangerous Band
Eddie’s face says on the thumbnail says it all. I’m eVh and you’re not !
That thumbnail LOL
Eddie was cool af and he will always be remembered...
Someone, PLEASE tell me what song is 17:36 its soooooooo good!!
I think Letterman calls Sammy Hagar,David at the end of the performance if I'm not mistaken!!! 😆!!!LATER!!!
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that,I'm a Sammy Hagar and Van Halen fan,so Dave wouldn't of sounded right!!!lol
You are mistaken. Listen more closely and you’ll hear him say “Sammy.”

21:19 I think the band enjoyed the shit outta that!
12:16 Wow, he pulled her up there. She was coming across a li'l bratty I guess.
"My husband's over there... aaannd my ex-boyfriend, Paul." I suppose you gotta say there were only a coupla 'friends' dates when the ages were 16 and 27, hmmm....
Great EVH. Rip Genius. Your songs and tunes will be remembered forever. Eddie Van Halen GOAT.
I miss these times even thou I was not born yet
Damn I remember watching this!
That band sounds so effing good .....The playing, the individual sounds of the instruments, the mix. Amazing ... Love all the Cream music.
"Does David get on your nerves ... ?" Wow - bullseye ...
Should be included with the names of Motzart, Beethoven, Bach, etc. The legend is gone. RIP maestro.
1985 second coming they played a lot of Cream. EVH knew how to put his mark.
I've never heard Sammy miss a note
Thanks for sharing! If you have a second, we posted an Eddie Van Halen tribute video. As fellow music lovers, we'd love if you would check it out. It's on our page. Don't go too hard on us :)
One thing i got from watching the ending of this, is eddie was happy walking off stage even if it was to 50 thousand people or to 50 as long as they enjoyed listening to him play , R.I.P EVH 🙏
I came to see EVH, and I got Johnny Carson and Lee Marvin as a bonus.
What a refreshing take on EVH. Just cool and relaxed. That was him just having a good time... or a Monday night.
Hurtin real bad.
Imagine when Eddie propose to Valerie I wish they put it on youtube
Jaci Sig can you show me the video when he propose to her
Mary Tsimba She said in her book that Eddie proposed to her on 12/8/80 - the day John Lennon was shot & killed.
I didn't realize Steve Jordan stayed in the band that long.
He will be missed! R.I.P Eddie!
This brought a tear to my eye
Valerie is sounding so breathy for her hot hubby. R.I.P. Gorgeous Ed
Valerie was so hot, Eddie was so cool. Where have all the good times gone
EVH looked completely different with his short 1995 hair. I think he's one of the rare rockers who looked better with short hair.
"Does David get on your nerves?" - D. Letterman, prompting the Van Halen breakup.
In the VB interview segment, VB mentions a rumor of an EVH affair and he doesn't deny it. Wonder if he was ever faithful to her & if he really loved her, & if not why he married her & stayed married to her for all those years.
Letterman & Van Halen look like brothers. Great video. Soo sad about Eddie.
Superb.
Green Onions!
And Keith Richards is still kicking. Go figure
Valerie goes to Eddie first! Can anyone make out what he says to her after they kiss? It looks like something and then baby?
Thank you for this
It just bothers me so much that he's gone.
I hear Starfleet/Jump!!!
Eddie Van Halen! How amazing He was playing live! Our greatest innovator! Guitar god of the guitar gODS!!! Thank You so much for this video!!
Thank you Don! 🙏🏼❤️🎶R.I.P. EVH
That Bertinelli interview was really uncomfortable
God bless you Ed we'll miss you and we'll never forget you
Thanks for the upload. This is great!
I wish, with all my heart, that Eddie had taken better care of himself; a beautiful person who got in his own way, like so many of us do.😪 2020 has been the worst year of my life.
Don't be greedy he lived the life he wanted. More than you judgemental assholes now.
GOD DAMN CIGARETTES!!!🙄 I’ll miss ya forever Eddie!!!
imagine having evh standing next to you and you choose to interview a mayor 😂
Eddie, The best! ✋🏻😎💣💥🎶
Anyone know the 2nd song the band and EVH are playing at 2:15? I don't recognize it.
He looked a lot like Robin Williams in the thumbnail
Valerie once said that Eddie literally played guitar in his sleep. Some guys are just born with it. Legend.
@Shawn McRoy I am thrilled for you & your good fortune! (& also a bit green with envy!) Will you share how little you had to pay for it?
And this week I found an EVH Wolfgang Special last week in a pawn shop. It’s identical to the one he’s playing in the last episode here. I’ve searched and searched for that model and color scheme all week, and this is the only other time I’ve seen it. Needless to say for the bargain price they had it at, I had to buy it.
@Sean First Piano and drums from Holland with love
Weird yet cool....
@Sean Simply Amazing
Not a fake smiler. Eddie was one of the happiest people to ever grace this planet. Godspeed brother.
"Does David get on your nerves?" Why would Letterman ask Eddie that, I wonder?????
fuck - I remember watching that live... where the hell has the time gone?!
What a garbage are the pair of Jimmys compared to this guy
What the hell are you talking about?
literally eddie and val are like best friends in public and they joke about things but that bond was impossible to break. RIP Ed we will miss you 🎸
The last song wow performed eddie was gifted from god
Real musician ,
Wow!! I remember watching some of these episodes. Awesome tribute!! Artists are the Ultimate Immortals....Their Work Lives On...and Beyond...Themselves. Rock in Peace Eddie.
That performance of Panama was epic.
It was!
Carson and Van Halen on the stage together. How often do you see that?
Mantap 🇮🇩🇮🇩
Eddie was so natural sitting in with the band. His playing always seemed so effortless.
Number 9? Even when EVH messes up just a little at ~20:26 he recovers beautifully..and PROBABLY while legally drunk..(edit)Nice video ending too!
Thanks, Don. These are amazing. It's quite impressive how quickly you were able to put these together and post them. Cheers!
back when you could smoke anywhere even smoking guitar while he smokes the guitar new meaning smoking guitar leave it to eddie
パナマの時、ベース弾いてる人誰ですか? かっこいい~♪
Eddie was so natural sitting in with the band. His playing always seemed so effortless.
good work dude
Great video, especially the early stuff. The "Balance"song was God awful though...Christ it was like a paint by numbers rewrite of "Right Now"...
Eddie Van Halen, A legend never dies
The 80s was such a better time to be alive.... everyone smiled more...we were genuinely happier, no tech in our pockets, and we were fine... I definitely wouldn't have wanted to hear this story about my wife.... awkward..
Thank you very much for sharing this video...
You can see that Ed had crazy respect for Paul, who is a first rate musician as well as a Letterman sidekick. The rest of the band were equally talented. Good times.
