Mountain Bikes 101 - Questions you were too embarrassed to ask

This audience ranges from experienced mountain bikers, to beginners, to people who have never picked up a bike before. As far as I'm concerned, all are welcome to enjoy our sport-we could actually use more people on our side, whether or not they ride bikes.
The purpose of this video is to go over the terminology and references we use on Berm Peak Express at the most basic level possible, to make the videos easier to understand. Undoubtably, people will have additional questions after the video, so I'm calling on viewers to help answer them!

  • So, a short cut to finding good mountain bike riding I can take my grandson. In the SC-Western NC area? I guess I was a pioneer. I’m 60 and we were doing downhill off road racing, BMX riding, and downhill trail riding when I was 8 thru to teenager. I wish I had known about or there were the great opportunities we have now.

  • not all hardtails have suspension. stop acting like you know everything its so annoying

    Bam BoBam Bo14 օր առաջ
    • @Big Brain Squirrel Named Carlo since when does REI create the definition of a hardtail? They are merely a company trying to sell products. If you just look at the word hardTAIL, it refers to the rear, having no suspension. Front could either have suspension or not.

      Bam BoBam Bo10 օր առաջ
    • @Bam Bo besides, almost all mountain bikes have suspension now. Unless it has fat tires, it's rare to find a "mountain bike" without suspension.

Big Brain Squirrel Named CarloBig Brain Squirrel Named Carlo10 օր առաջ
    • @Bam Bo from REI, "A full-suspension mountain bike features both a suspension fork up front and a rear shock, whereas a hardtail bike has only a suspension fork."

Big Brain Squirrel Named CarloBig Brain Squirrel Named Carlo10 օր առաջ
    • How do all hardtails have suspension? Your telling me that a bike suddenly is not a hardtail because it doesn't have suspension up front? Hardtail means that there is no suspension in the rear and either suspension in the front or not. A rigid bike is a hardtail. Your logic is off, be quiet.

      Bam BoBam Bo10 օր առաջ
    • What? Lol. All hardtails have suspension. Maybe you're thinking of a rigid bike? Besides, he never acted like he knows everything
