We recently made brush piles out of PVC pipe and irrigation hose. Today we put them in the lake and viewed with Livescope. Interesting things happened.

  • The first part of this is making the brush piles, then dropping them in the lake. What is interesting is seeing what the fish do right after these are put into position. Check it out!!

    • No Sir. Ha Ha, I have not found them yet. I changed graphs and apparently when I exported my way points I did not do it correctly so I have lost those points. I actually forgot about this but I will make a point to get out and scan for them as this should be a good time to fish them. I have an idea where they are. I did return a week later and scanned them with Livescope and there were fish on them, but I did not fish it.

  • THAT'S NOT A CRAPPIE CONDO THAT'S AN "AMUSEMENT PARK"..LOL....I'm not sure if you sanded the PVC..but I have read and heard that the algae and zooplankton can attach to the PVC if it's sanded..just would be a better ECOSYSTEM..THE CIRCLE OF LIFE...Nice video..THUMBS-UP!!!!!!

    • Thanks. Did not sand it. BUT on that note, I see many docks that have PVC water pipes and they have algae all over them so sanding might make it easier for them to attach but I do not think it is required. Ha Ha it is an amusement park. I plan to find them again soon. I made the mistake of not verifying that I had the way points downloaded for the new graph I put on. I just need to figure out which of the helix 7's I have it on and hook it up when on the lake. I replaced them with Helix 12's and well, the points did not back up like I thought.

  • Instead of using mixed concrete, since you're gluing together, just use sand to fill the bottom legs - easier, faster and cheaper

    • Good idea. The reason I did not use a sand or something else was because I had drilled holes in the PVC and was not sure how they were going to land. Now that I know that is a good idea. Thanks for watching.

  • Wouldn't it have been better to make cuts in the tubing halfway between the white pipe branches on the larger structure after you wove the tubes, so that you would be less likely to have fish wrap your line around them? They could still wrap you around the larger pipe, but I would think it would happen less often this way.

    • @Asleep At The Reel - Outdoors did you find your structures even after your lost waypoints?? i sunk some cedar last weekend and caught fish off them yesterday. great feeling and they get on the stuff QUICK!

    • That is an idea, but at the same time after using this for 6-7 months I have never had that happen. I use a long pole so they do not get close to it.

    • @VH F I do not remember. I basically took the hose and found a bit that was just slightly bigger. Was trying to find one the same size so there would not be a lot of play in it, but nothing fit exact so I went just a little bigger so I could slide the pipe in.

    • What size drill bit did you use?

      VH FVH F10 ամիս առաջ
    • HAHA good question, the answer is no right now, but that will change as soon as I find it! :-) I changed graphs and forgot to download my waypoints. Once I get them downloaded I can find it again and try it. I did look at it a week later and there were fish on it. Just did not have time to fish it.

  • I think everyone suggest flipping the drip pipe upwards, is to mimic a branch of a tree

    Baker VinciBaker VinciՏարի առաջ
    • I agree, unfortunately I could not do that with that particular tubing. The reason is the hole was a little bigger than that pipe which meant that it automatically turned downward. I hope to fix that on the next ones I put in. Thanks for the comment and I fully agree, just could not be done here.

    • I agree they are, BUT that is fine with me as I do not want people seeing them! :-) I have the coordinates on my Humminbird and there is no other structure in the area for people to "Accidentally find" Just follow the humminbird then drop livescope in and I am golden! :-)

  • You can drop them with the jug and they all land flat. Everyone of them. I placed them all by myself

    Baker VinciBaker VinciՏարի առաջ
    • agreed. I did put the jug on top and they landed flat. Was just worried as it was not deep, so did not know if they would right themselves or not. They did however!

    Baker VinciBaker VinciՏարի առաջ
    • it is but the hole in the pipe was larger than the pipe so they automatically fell downwards. Will fix that on the next one. I do agree with you though.

    • Let me say, the first two weeks I had it and I fished about 4 times a week I was thinking I wasted my money. It takes a little time to understand and learn to read, but now I would not do anything without it. I have learned so much about the habits of crappie and other fish using this. Heck, I threw these things in the water and the fish came over to see what it was. I figured they would be in the next county.
